And true, it took me a while to like Daryl, especially after his innocent-person-killing stunt in episode 2. I think it was the hatred I had for Inori that made me appreciate Daryl more.
As for Shu, I'm on the fence with him. I like how he kept his focus on pointing the gravity gun at the Leukocyte cores (he didn't stop, even when Daryl busted in), but part of me is just screaming "Why?" in response to him being horrified at Inori actually killing a couple soldiers.
Lastly, soldiers rushing at a protagonist instead of ducking behind a wall and firing is a bullshit reason to drop a show.
